In recognition of International Men’s Day this week, the Safer Slough Partnership is highlighting the positive value and contribution men in Slough bring to the town, through a series of inspirational quotes and advice from men who live and work in the borough.
The theme of the day this year is positive role models. Sometimes boys and young men find the transition into adult life difficult and lack a positive role model in their lives. The partnership wants to raise awareness of the amount of support and help there is in Slough for boys and young men to reach their full potential.
The quotes will form part of a social media campaign throughout the week, which offer advice and reflect on own experiences in the hope that other men who may be facing challenges in their lives read them and find solutions to the problems they may be experiencing.
In addition, dedicated webpages have been set up featuring all the quotes and advice and a wealth of information on the opportunities out there for anyone who may feel they are stuck in a rut and want to make a change in their life.
Josie Wragg, chief executive of Slough Borough Council and chairperson of the Safer Slough Partnership, said: “For the partnership, International Men’s Day is about showcasing the opportunities out there for men, and telling the stories of men and boys who live and work in Slough.
“They have shared some quite personal details about how they have managed to overcome challenges and obstacles along the way, and we are grateful that we can share this.
“The hope is that their advice and experiences will resonate with boys and young men who may be stuck in a rut or worried about their future.”
